Cuba's Tourism Grows May 3, 2010 Source: http://www.dtcuba.com Havana.- The number of tourists who visited Cuba in March increased 6,4 percent, compared to the same month in 2009. The National Statistics Office reported that the increase compensated the decrease in tourist arrivals during the first two months of 2010, so 810,150 foreign vacationers visited Cuba during the first quarter of the year. In March, 296,988 tourists visited the Caribbean island, a clear sign of the recovery of the sector, which has been welcomed by authorities, travel agents and hotel chains. Cuba received 2.4 million tourists in 2009, accounting for a 3.8-percent increase in contrast to 2008. Last year's revenues totaled two billion dollars.
