Havana .- More than 80 camping facilities, with 15 000 capacity of housing to accommodate 200 000 vacationers this year will offer the Group Campismo Popular de Cuba.

Dagoberto Yumar, vice president of that business group, reported that bookings may be made at 173 points scattered throughout the country. The manager said that in addition to those staying for several days, the villages are able to receive another 70 thousand people who prefer to book a single day.

Since its inception in 1981, this form of tourism has accounted for more than 26 million customers, many of them have preferred facilities of the western province of Matanzas, where Varadero beach it's located. Yumar indicated that appropriate measures are taken in the territory to get ready the camping areas.

Among the touristic zones most requested by campers include the Maya area in the northern coastal city of Matanzas, as well as those near the Canimar river. (Source: Newspaper Giron, Matanzas)
