Havana.- Cuba's history is part of the country's tourist options for both national and foreign vacationers.

In that regard, new options are available this year in eastern Santiago de Cuba province, where tourists will be able to visit the remains of six sunken ships from a naval battle between Spain and the United States in 1898.

The project, called "Una Inmersión en la Historia" (A Dive into History), will allow 20 people to dive in the area where the remains of the battleships Vizcaya, Almirante Oquendo and Cristóbal Colón rest.

Other ships in the area are the destroyers Furor and Plutón, from the Spanish Navy, and the US steam ship Merrimac, which was sunk to prevent the Spanish fleet from fleeing.
