





| Matamoros´s Café, new touristic offer |

A Coffee place with a musical touch in a Cuban Son's origin, Santiago de CubaÂ
Santiago de Cuba (AIN) Last 7 May, Matamoros Café opened in this city with a setting that recreates the heyday of the famous Son´s composer, Santiago guitarist and performer of the trio that bore his name. Photos and paintings of Miguel Matamoros, Siro Rodriguez and Rafael Cueto hang from the walls, which also make references to the extensive repertoire which popularized "Lagrimas Negras", "Santiaguera", "El Paralitico", "Son de la Loma" and many others. Bar, furnitures, lamps, pictures of old streets of the city with traditional characters like coal sellers and the carnival festivities drive back the customers to mid-twentieth century, while enjoying a unique cuisine with light meals and snacks. Their services begin at seven in the morning and extend up to 11 night. At the opening of the Café were Matamoros granddaughters Florentina Belkis and Mercedes as well as great-grandson Raul Emilio Perez, director of Septeto honoring the musician with his name. Also attending were tour operators, travel agents and directors of tourism in Cuba, amid the performance of "TrÃo Ensueño" with lyrics of Trio Matamoros, was cut off the ribbon by MarÃa Elena López Reyes, Vice Minister of Tourism in Cuba. The opening of this Café took place few hours before the date of birth of Miguel Matamoros, which occurred on 8 May 1894. Precisely this musician created the trio in his 31st birthday party in 1925. Santiago Club will also offers its services, located nearby the hills, as part of new offers by Extrahotels Group Palmares, in the central Plaza de Dolores, which already has the Don Antonio restaurants, local food, The Teressina, Italian, and The Pearl Dragon with Chinese cuisine. |
