Cuba: Habanos Vegas Robaina received top award by Cigar Clan in Russia
Famous Vegas Robaina cigars were awarded by Cigar Clan organization during 2009 Best of the Best, said Thursday a statement from the Cuban Ministry of Tourism (MINTUR). The note adds that Cigar Clan based in Moscow, gave the recognition ceremony at the downtown gallery Manezhnaya. During the award ceremony, the economic adviser to Russian-Cuban trade, Reynaldo Rodriguez, received on behalf of the Island the award from the prestigious institution. To get to that prize, a competition was organized with the participation of all Premium snuff producing countries. The Vegas Robaina ranked first, followed by cigars from Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic, the Ministry of Tourism said in a statement. Cigar Clan also sponsored an exhibition in the same gallery with 60 works by 15 Cuban artists. In this Art's exhibition, were new cigars's paintings by the artist Milton Bernal. These meetings and exhibitions are part of the current tourism promotional campaign of Cuba in the world, particularly in their usual source markets and potential travelers, such as Russia. Alejandro Robaina died last April at 91 years old and after being one of the leading snuff growers of the country, besides being the only living tobacco to have a brand of cigars with his name.
