French cinema festival in Cuba last days of June
Havana, Cuba - The Festival of the French Cinema in Cuba, is an unique event of its type in the world and it arose modestly 13 years ago, with a group of movies that was shown in the cinema Charles Chaplin belonging to the Cuban cinematheque . Organized by ICAIC (Cuban Institute of Film), the Cinemateca de Cuba, (Cuban cinematheque), the Alianza Francesa de Cuba (French Alliance) and the French group Cinemania, the event reaches an attendance between 80 000 and 100 000 spectators every year. The 2010 edition is highly promising, and it includes 16 recent titles and a selection of 60 animated movies of great artistic quality that will be shown in several Havana's cinemas. As usual, an artistic representative delegation will accompany the presentation of the films during the first week which will be integrated by filmmaker Remi Bezan, actress Christa Theret - main character of the film LOL -, the filmmaker and actor Gerard Jugnot and the actress Sa Jawad - who will present the comedy Rosa and Black -, and filmmakers Fred Cavaye and Gregoire Vigneron. Other films to be shown will be: The writer, by Roman Polanski winner of the Silver Bear in the last edition of the Berlin Festival; the multi awarded movie "The grain of the couscous", by filmmaker Abdellatif Kechiche; the intense and dramatic production "It makes a lot of time that I love you," from filmmaker Philippe Claudel, winner of six categories of the Caesar's Awards; and "The Kidnapping", by filmmaker Lucas Belvaux, nominated in four categories also in the mentioned Awards. The public of the whole country as well as holidaymakers visiting the Cuban capital in those days will be able to enjoy this party of the French cinema again in one of its best editions.
