Varadero and Las Terrazas, Cuba attractions to tourism experts
More than 300 experts in this tourist activity were visiting two attractive sites of the leisure industry of this island: Varadero and Las Terrazas. These places, represented show travel cabinets with attractive sun and beach as well as nature and were selected for this occasion by the organizers of the First International Convention of Tourism Studies and the Third International Seminar on Journalism and Tourism. These two meetings celebrated from July 12-16 surpassed the 300 researchers and experts from over 10 nations who gathered in Cuba to analyze the importance of media with recreation attractions. The Convention took place in the Palacio de Convenciones and in the International Institute of Journalism José Martà in Havana. Varadero is the Cuba's most important recreational place located 140 miles away from Eastern Havana, and its a prime location with clear water and fine sand. The geological origin of Varadero comes from the Quaternary Era and the name of the peninsula where it is, Hicacos, responds to a tree green spiny leaves, a typical cactus that in his time covering that portion of 22 km long (its widest is 700 meters). In its Northern coast, nature twist in a unique strip of sand and protect the southern flank of the Bay of Cardenas. Varadero is now a town of 26.6 square kilometers. It currently has more than 40 hotels with about 10 thousand 500 rooms and a further development in perspective. For its part, the Complex Las Terrazas is classified as a rural experience of sustainable development located in the Reserve of the Sierra del Rosario, Western province of Pinar del Rio. The second stage of this project began in 1968 to reforest five thousand hectares, improve living conditions for the population dispersed in the area and communication channels. In 1971 there is a picturesque community named Las Terrazas, with active participation of villagers in tourism in a very reasonable way. Since 1994 the area became a visiting place for vacationers interested in culture and nature. |
