The Hotel has great historical – cultural value, and it will open on December 2010, as part of the charm hotels in Cuba. The Hotel Velasco was founded in 1902 under the Administration of Luis Velazco, in Libertad Square, Matanzas, in the midst of its historic centre. The building samples an eclectic architecture with outstanding neoclassical elements. It is one of the most important buildings of the historical centre of the city. The hotel is only 50 meters away from the Sauto Theatre. Nearby is the Museum of Pharmacy, where you can appreciate an original 19th century French Chemist. From the last level of the building there are very good views of the city and the Bay of Matanzas. Its decoration recalls the atmosphere of the salon and residences of the early days of the 20th century, dominated by warm colours on walls and ceilings. Rooms lit with lamps and ceilings of the 20th of last century can be appreciated in the installation. Many fresh vegetation and natural landscapes are decorating the 58-seat restaurant, resembling a large terrace.
